About me.

Jennifer Banh. I am a Masters student at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto, pursuing my MEd in Adult Education and Community Development. I am interested in how learning environments (inside and outside of the classroom) can be structured and facilitated to create positive learning experiences, and more broadly, how these experiences can lead to social change. While pursuing my HBSc in psychology during my undergraduate studies, I developed an interest in how people’s thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours are influenced by their surroundings, the given situation, and the people in their environment. Now, I am able to link my interests in social psychology to education and apply it on a professional level. My professional interests lie in student affairs and support services in post-secondary education, particularly in international education and orientation and transition programs.

On a more personal level: I try to live a life full of appreciation and gratitude for the people in my life and what the world gives me. Smiles and laughs make my day. I have a love for the arts (especially in music) and I believe it has the power to build community and long lasting relationships. I can never turn down a good mystery — Sherlock Holmes is my detective. A cup of tea, a bowl of ice cream, karaoke nights, and pictures/videos of giggling babies are my go-to for any needed remedy, or if I just want to feel warm and fuzzy inside. I believe passion and having fun are key to happiness and I try my best to achieve these by being true to myself.

“We all have two lives. The second one begins when we realize we only have one.”
