About this blog.

Please feel free to learn more about me. I hope to use this blog to jot down any thoughts that come to mind or any feelings that are in me. Whether it be in words, through pictures, in music, or on video, it will be the window into what I’m thinking.

In addition to personal thoughts, I also hope to use this blog to document my experiences working on personal projects:

Song of the Day” is a running collection of music that has inspired or impacted me, past or present, or questions for the future. My thoughts and feelings can sometimes be difficult to put in words. Music speaks to me in profound ways, and my life can sometimes be better documented through song. I also believe the arts (whether it be music, dance, film, theatre, or visual) have the power to bring people together and be a catalyst for community building and social change. I hope to use this project as a way to explore this idea further in the world of music.

JB Goes to Scotland” is an ambitious and thrilling adventure I am embarking on. I am studying as an exchange student at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. This opportunity has been made possible through the Student Exchange Program at the Centre for International Experience in the University of Toronto. This will be where I document the entire learning experience.

Why is the title of this blog “Thoughts or Questions?” you may ask? In my opinion, it’s one of the best questions to ask when engaging in a conversation or discussion. One of my undergraduate psychology professors always ended a topic or trace of thought with this question, allowing us as a class to contribute to where the discussion was left off. The question creates a safe environment that welcomes the sharing of ideas and piquing people’s interests to learn more. It also opens the space to be filled with a wide array of knowledge and experiences we each have and can add. Everyone is gaining and contributing, and everyone is a learner and educator.

With everything I do or share, I try to ask this question to others so that they know I am open to discuss further and/or take this conversation on a different level. I also try my best to ask myself this question when learning from others and from different sources (“What are my thoughts or questions on what I just learned?”). It creates a more fruitful learning experience, to me.

I hope this blog allows me to share my thoughts and questions with the world, and I hope to create a space where readers may also share their thoughts and questions with me if they wish.
